NEW ZEALAND MINISTER TO ATTEND AUSTIMBER
New Zealand Forestry Minister, Jim Sutton is to
attend AusTimber which is being held in Albury from March 29th to April 3rd.
New Zealand is the guest nation at AusTimber, and
will have about 25% of the main pavilion for the New Zealand stand.
AusTimber managing director Ron Limb said that he
was delighted that Mr Sutton would be attending AusTimber.
"The Minister's visit highlights the close
relationship between the New Zealand and Australian forest industries, and also
acknowledges the very large commitment made by New Zealand companies and New
Zealand Trade & Enterprise to their special display area at AusTimber." Mr
Sutton said that forestry is a key sector in New Zealand's economy, with exports
of $3.6 billion for the year ending 31 March 2003. Of that, 26 per cent of
forest product exports went to Australia. Mr Sutton said he looked forward
to attending AusTimber. "I particularly look forward to discussing how we
in New Zealand, and Australia might seek to develop a closer relationship
between our industries with a view to building on what is already a close and

said there was a great deal of interest from New Zealand and South Africa and
